Eagle Harbor Lighthouse

Perched on a rugged outcropping in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Eagle Harbor Lighthouse stands as a steadfast sentinel against the vast, often tempestuous waters of Lake Superior.

The structure itself is of the classic Great Lakes design: a sturdy, brick dwelling with a bright red roof and an octagonal light tower rising from its corner. Built in 1871, the functional architecture of this lighthouse has been holding fast against the region’s brutal gales and punishing winters for over 150 years.

The surrounding landscape is a dramatic tapestry woven of Michigan’s raw natural elements—sheer, wave-battered bedrock, hardy, wind-sculpted pines, and the deep, cold expanse of the lake.
