Au Sable Light Station, a large white conical tower with a black cap and attached dwelling surrounded by red brick aux buildings.

The Au Sable Light Station stands tall along the rugged shoreline of Lake Superior, nestled within the breathtaking landscape of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The Au Sable lighthouse, a majestic conical structure dating back to the mid-19th century, sits atop a rocky promontory, its white tower providing a striking contrast against the deep blue waters of the lake.

In addition to its distinct tower, the station includes an attached keeper’s dwelling and a handful of brick auxiliary buildings strategically placed to withstand the fury of the lake’s legendary storms.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Au Sable region, the light station still serves as an active beacon, guiding ships through the treacherous waters of Lake Superior. The station’s grounds are marked by a serene blend of rocky cliffs, lush vegetation, and sandy beaches, all of which contribute to the area’s picturesque character.
